It acts by increasing the pectoralis muscles along with muscles in shoulders & core. In this exercise, you just need to remember to move opposite arm & foot simultaneously in same direction.
Don’t let your butt go higher than your shoulders. In this exercise, you should continue to breathe normally. Plank walk exercise can have different types of variations & depending on its types certain steps can differ.
Here is the step-by-step process or instructions for lateral plank walk workout:
(a) Start in a plank position with your palms on the floor, wrist under your shoulders, & your body aligned from head to heels in a straight line. Your feet should be close to each other.
(b) Lift & cross your right hand towards the left. Simultaneously move your left foot out towards left. In this step, your hands will be crossed. But, gap or width between your legs will increase as compared to starting position.
(c) Return to plank position by lifting your left hand & right foot and moving both towards left. In this step, gap or width between your hands will again become normal as in starting position i.e. shoulder-width apart.
Here, gap or width between your legs will decrease to become normal as in starting position i.e. close to each other.
(d) Take two more steps in this direction.
(e) Reverse directions taking three steps towards right side.
