Pregnant women should avoid using an electric blanket particularly in the last months of pregnancy as it increases the risk of miscarriage, birth defect, underweight baby as well as electric shock.

Additionally, electric blanket also raises concerns about electromagnetic field arising due to electricity that heat up the blanket. As, so evidences are present about the possible adverse effects of electromagnetic radiations on the health of would-be mother & her baby. It will be best option to avoid using electric blanket during pregnancy in colder climatic conditions.

Thus, it will be best option to start considering use of traditional blankets instead of electric blankets or heat the blanket up before getting in bed & unplugging it once in bed to minimize the risk of electric shock & overheating to developing fetus.

It is one of the common things to avoid while pregnant. Pesticides are chemical substances that are meant to attract, seduce & then destroy wide range of pests. Pesticides are usually released in household environment, storage spaces, gardens, etc. to prevent growth of pests.

But, pregnant women should completely avoid pesticide exposure particularly during first trimester of pregnancy as it is the period when nervous system of your baby is rapidly developing.

According to a study published in American Journal of Public Health, agricultural pesticides are found to result in serious birth defects, pregnancy complications, miscarriage, and autism in pregnant women.
